Tom Noll Creative Bone Artworks® Inc. & Art that Rocks®

Ronnie Earl continues to be one of the most

emotive blues guitarists today, whose musical

voicings deal with loss and healing, gratitude

and love, compassion and passion. Indeed,

it is those emotional touchstones within his

music, which is so beautifully reflected in the

swirl of colors expressed in artist Tom Noll

painting of a picture taken by Tom Hazeltine.

Broadcasters

Mark Earley, baritone sax

Mario Perrett, tenor sax

Nicholas Tabarias, rhythm guitar

You build my hopes so high, then you let me down so low.
It makes no difference darlin’, I just love you more and more.
And every time you smile, you know I’m smiling with you.
And every time you cry, you know I shed a few tears too.

Now ain't that lovin' you baby, ain’t that lovin' you.

I know it’s lovin’ you baby, ain’t that lovin’ you baby.

I don't believe, I don't believe you know what I'm talkin' about.
I don't believe, I don't believe you know what I'm talkin' about.
I'm talkin' about love, love, love.
I'm talkin' about love, love, love.
I'm talkin' about love, love, love.
I'm talkin' about love, love, love.

You know I told you darlin’ that I’d never let you down.
No matter what you do, I will always be around.
You treat me like a schoolgirl, and that you know is true.
It makes no difference darlin’,

Ain't that lovin' you,

Every time you smile.
You know I smile with you,

Ain’t that loving you, you know that lovin’.

Guitar solo

Ain’t that lovin’ you,
Every time you smile…
You know I'm smilin’ with you

Ain’t that lovin’ you.

Death go hit any family in this land.
Death’ll go in any family in this land.

It will come to your house and it won’t stay long,
You look in the bed and one of your family is gone

Death'll go and hit any family in this land.

Well it won’t give you time to get ready in this land.

Nicholas Tabarias, rhythm & solo guitar

Mario Perrett, tenor sax

Heartbreak, it's hurtin' me.
Weak in the knees, loose in the head.
My baby has left me
I wish that I was dead.

Heartbreak, it's hurtin' me.

I'm dyin' in the eye.
Lost my sense of touch.
My baby has left me.
I love him so much.

Heartbreak, it's hurtin' me.

Dave Limina, organ

Nicholas Tabarias, guitar solo

He lead me to believe.
That I was all he had.
This morning I was happy.
Tonight I got 'em bad.

Ronnie Earl, solo guitar

I know I’ve been a fool.
How taken I have been.
If I see my baby.
I'd run to him again.

7. Never Gonna Break My Faith
Andrea Remanda, Eliot John Kennedy & Bryan Adams, Remandamusic & Badams Music Limited

My Lord, I have read this book so many times
But nowhere can I find the page that says
What I experienced today has any grace.

Now I know that life is meant to be hard
That's how I learned to appreciate my God
Though my courage may be tried, I can tell you I won't hide
Because the footprints show you were by my side.

You can lie to a child with a smiling face
Tell me that color ain't about a race
You can cast the first stone, you can break my bones
But you never gonna break, you never gonna break my faith
Faith and hope ain't yours to give,
Truth and liberty are mine to live.
Steal a crown from a king, break an angels wings,
But you never gonna break, you never gonna break my faith.

My Lord, won't you help them, help them to understand
That when someone takes the life of an innocent man
Well, they never really won because all they've ever done
Is set the soul free where it's supposed to be.

You can lie to a child with a smiling face
Tell me that color ain't about a race
You can cast the first stone, you can break my bones
But you never gonna break, you never gonna break my faith
Faith and hope ain't yours to give
Truth and liberty are mine to live
Steal a crown from a king, break an angels wings
But you never gonna break, you never gonna break my faith

For those we lose before their time
I pray their souls will find the light
I know that the day will surely come
When his will, his will, will be done.

Never gonna break my faith
His will will be done.
You never gonna break my faith. I keep holdin’ on.

You never gonna break my faith.

The original band members of Sugar Ray & the Bluetones, formed in 1977, were Ray Norcia, Anthony Geraci, Neil Gouvin, Mudcat Ward and Ronnie Horvath. They found themselves together again this past June (2017) in the studio, along with Mike Welch, who was the current guitarist for the Bluetones. They had a long lost musical conversation which was enriched by the forty years of gigs, albums, road trips, struggles and celebrations that have filled and directed their lives. Listen to what they had to say on Long Lost Conversation:

8.  Long Lost Conversation

Ray Norcia, Norcia Publishing, BMI

Sugar Ray Norcia, vocals, harp

Anthony Geraci, Piano

Mike Welch , Guitar

Neil Gouvin , Drums

Michael "Mudcat" Ward, Fender Bass

Ronnie Earl, Guitar

Mike Welch, first guitar solo

It was a late night hour; baby I couldn’t help myself but think of you.

It was a late night hour; baby I couldn’t help myself but think of you.

You’re always on my mind – you know that.

Late night hour, I couldn’t help myself but think of you.

I know you told me more times than I can count darlin’.

I still wonder if what you said is true.

Late night hour, sittin’ all alone on my bed.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey…

Sittin’ all alone so lonely on my bed.

I make believe I just talked to you baby on the telephone,

But I can’t remember what you said.

Come back home baby, that’s what I want.

Let me tell you one more thing If I can.

Ray Norcia, harp solo

Somebody help me now.

Anthony Geraci, piano solo

Ronnie Earl, guitar solo

Baby our long lost conversation on the phone,

Is just a long lost memory.

Little darlin’, little darlin’ our long lost conversation,

Is just a faded memory.

I think I’ll lie down on the bed and start dreamin’ darlin’,

And dream that you brought yourself home to me.

11.   So Many Roads
Paul Marshall, Arc Music Corporation

~~

So many roads, so many trains to ride.
So many roads, so many trains to ride.
I've got to find my baby, before I'll be satisfied.

I was standin' by my window, when I heard the whistle blow.
Yes, I was standin' at my window, when I heard that old whistle blow.
You know I thought it was a Streamline, but it was a B & O.

solo guitar

It was a mean ol' fireman and a cruel ol' engineer.
It was a mean ol' fireman and a cruel ol' engineer.
That took away my baby and left me standin' here.

solo guitar

 12. You Don’t Know What Love Is

Fenton Robinson, Eyeball Music

You don't know what love is
Until you really fall in love one time.
You don't know what love is
Until you really fall in love one time.

I remember when this love was with me
As I always blew my mind

From sun-up ‘till sun-down
He kept my nose down on the ground.
Oh, from sun-up all day long
He kept my nose down on the ground.

He even kept my life
Around a little chain,
And now I know I will never be the same.

And I'll be a fool to say it’s over
His beautiful picture still enters my mind.
And I'll be a fool to say it's all over
His beautiful picture still enters my mind.

Brother you don't know what love is
Until you really fall in love one time.

Brother you don't know

Brother you don’t know
Sister you don't know
Tell you don’t know.

Oh

Oh you don’t know.
